Day 5

Yellowstone Park and Grand Tetons to Jackson, Wyoming

Day 5 starts at the Cowboy Village Hotel in Cody Wyoming. Hand a very average breakfast at the hotel with coffee tasting like muddy water before heading out towards Yellowstone. While until now the weather had been hote and dry, over the next couple of days it got progressively wetter and colder.

I drove past the Buffalo Bill reservoir and it started to rain as I ascended the hills to get into Yellowstone. The scenery changed from dry arid hills to lush green forested mountains as I arrived at the eastern entrance of Yellowstone National Park. The rain continued to pour as I went past the entrance and rode down to Yellowstone Lake.

The first views of Yellowstone Lake are truly awe inspiring.

I decided to check out the Geyser basin and headed towards West Thumb and then up and across the continental divide before descending onto the Geyser basin near Old Faithful.

Took a quick break and then left of Grand Prismatic Springs probably the best site I was in Yellowstone Park.

I took in the great beauty of the Grand Prismatic appreciative of being fortunate enough to be able to see this place and then moved on towards the Grand Tetons.

The Tetons after Yellowstone are a bonus pack you get when you visit Yellowstone. Imagine visiting and riding through two of the top five most visited national parks in the United States in a single day. The Tetons rise from the waters of Jackson Lake like a wall like in the show Game of Thrones. They are stunning spires created by nature. A must visit while in the Yellowstone Area.
