Background
This trip has been in the planning for almost 5 years ever since I drove with family through the beautiful Canadian Rockies starting in Jasper and then onto the Icefields Parkway across the Athabasca Pass down to Lake Louise, Banff and then west towards Vancouver. I recall telling myself I have to do this on a motorcycle. After 5 years of planning including buying a bigger motorcycle in 2020 and getting experience doing longer trips, finally the trip through the Rockies has become a reality with one exception it’s even more ambitious.
The Route
I knew the places I wanted to visit but took a few weeks to pin down the exact route. The route starts in Calgary at the foot of the Canadian Rockies in early September 2024 and then heads south via Glacier National Park crossing Logan Pass in Glacier National Park, US and then to the Beartooth Pass via the Bearthooth Highway onto Yellowstone and Grand Teton before heading back to Calgary, AB where the trip ends. Below is a google maps snapshot of the trip.
